At Fundación Viva our hearts swell for supporting the growth of the San Andrés and Providencia archipelago, which is why we work together with different allies such as Rotaract and Antioquia present to encourage tourism, education and the well-being of its people, this has been our impact:
During 2020, we accompanied the inhabitants of San Andrés and Providencia after the passage of hurricanes Eta and Iota, which caused 98% damage in Providencia and left more than 6,000 people affected. We made Viva planes fully available for humanitarian and cargo flights, and in three weeks, together with Viva collaborators, we collected basic supplies for the family basket, such as clothing, diapers, and drinking water. Thanks to our work we transport:
- 697 food packages
- 80 Tons
- 5 people from the medical staff
- 2 veterinarians
- 11 rescuers
We have delivered more than a thousand school kits to different educational institutions on the island, encouraging education in children between 6 and 15 years of age.
We joined the “BBT” (Back, Better, Together) alliance with several entities, including Antioquia Presente, to restore the living conditions of the people affected by the passage of Hurricane IOTA in Providencia. We are advancing in the reconstruction of inns and the supply of productive businesses in Providencia.
