Wings and books to fly in La Guajira

A new yellow heart flight💛 landed full of opportunities to impact nearly 18 thousand people from the municipalities of Uribia and Manaure in La Guajira. This time we arrived in alliance with ‘El Señor de los Libros’, from the La Fuerza de Las Palabras foundation to support him in his delivery of 3.5 tons of copies📚.

In total, 9 thousand early childhood books, literature, textbooks and academic guides donated by the Javeriana University reached their final destination to positively impact the inhabitants of the Irraipa, Araipa Kulesiamana communities , Mushalerain, Urraichi, Mauripao, Casuso, Aremasain, Masapuliwou, Shiruria and San Antonio de Pancho.

In this landing with opportunities we also have the support of the Secretariat of Indigenous Affairs and we managed to get José Alberto Sandoval, better known as ‘The Lord of the Books’, to make a new donation a reality as part of his project to strengthen community libraries, which is added to the nearly 30 that it has already consolidated in sectors such as Bosa, Ciudad Bolívar, Facatativá, Sumapaz and San Cristóbal in Cundinamarca; and Miranda in Cauca. “Books are the best invention and they are the best thing that can happen to a human being… that is why they are not to hoard them but to rotate them,” he says.

At Fundación Viva we understand education as the route to closing gaps, cutting cycles of poverty and generating opportunities, which is why we contribute to the promotion of reading as a tool to ensure that knowledge reaches everyone.
